In detail, Windows Information Rights Management (IRM) safeguards typical office documents through robust encryption, restricting access to designated, enrolled desktop computers. Recognizing the increasing need for mobility, this application enables authorized employees to securely access RMS-protected documents on corporate-compatible mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads, ensuring timely information delivery during travel.

The RMS Viewer app detects file types protected by RMS. When such a file is opened, the app transmits the document to an RMS Rendering Server hosted internally. The server decrypts and converts the document, contingent upon user permissions. The processed document is then transmitted back to the device and displayed within an embedded viewer. This viewer enforces restrictions, preventing printing or forwarding of the protected content.

Additionally, documents can be saved locally on the device with strong encryption, allowing offline access without compromising security.
